Five Days Sailing

Drive from Edinburgh to Arisaig on Monday and be introduced to skipper and crew. Leave the mooring mid afternoon to catch the high tide over the bar at the entrance to Loch na Ciel, Arisaig, across the Sound of Sleat to Canna a National Trust island. After breakfast you can explore the Island and visit Canna House or walk around to the other side of the anchorage, having coffee at the Waters Edge Cafe. Midday lunch aboard before leaving for Loch Harport, the home of Talisker distillery on Skye. Visit to the distillery with whiskey tastings and then off to spend the night under the awe-inspiring cliffs of Scavaig, said to be the most scenic anchorage in Europe. Walk to loch Coruisk above the anchorage. Short hop across to Rhum and spend the afternoon ashore taking in Kinloch Castle once home of  an exotic  menagerie.  Evening otter spotting in the hide which was used by the BBC Autumn Watch filming. Sail up the Sound of Sleat and into the remote Loch Nevis, where the great Scottish Wilderness of Knoydart comes down to the sea. Visit the remotest pub in Britain, The Forge at Inverie, only accessible by boat. On Friday morning, head back to Arisaig and return by car to Edinburgh.

Optional extra: from Arisaig you can catch the 'Hogwarts Express' to Fort William and be collected by car there to return to Edinburgh.
